2017 New Year greeting from the Australian TAC Chairman

2017 New Year greeting from the Australian TAC Chairman

To all Australian Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation members.

2016 was perhaps the best year we’ve had in all the years we have been together as a formal Federation in Australia and we are grateful to have had your support and been given the opportunity to support you in being your best.

We have seen multiple Ko Dan Ja experiences around the world, training sessions with seniors, new Do Jangs opening, Youth Leadership event in Korea, camps, seminars and visits by several Senior Ko Dan Ja. Kwan Jang Nim HC Hwang holidayed here in Australia too and gave a multi day seminar in Melbourne.

Let’s appreciate all the people who make it happen, who are consistently contributing to the art with their leadership, attendance, attitude and abilities on a weekly basis. By focusing on what’s important, putting others before themselves, creating opportunities and guiding others as they pursue their martial art dreams, these leaders ensure our art has a vibrant future.

The TAC will continue to pragmatically assist to help you design, create and live your best Moo Duk Kwan experience. Over the last few weeks, the TAC has made concrete steps to start 2017 strong. We know you will find it helpful. We have clarified some of the procedures and with guidance from Kwan Jang Nim, new structures will be in place within the next few months.

We will be inviting Red Belt Gup members, Yu Dan Ja and Ko Dan Ja members to a camp in August to share the art so they can all be a practical part of the leadership group into the future. Also at the camp we will ask Ko Dan Ja members to help in identifying areas of development and identifying future assistants in a range of roles (such as on testing boards) and tasking them with meaningful action orientated roles so they can move from spectator to facilitator and role model.

While 2016 had some challenges and changes along with the growth, we are all heading towards our MDK goals. For me the big one was my father, who was an educator for most of his professional life, passed away, as did several others who held meaningful roles in our lives.

Also I’d like to say a special thank you to Broman Sa Bom for her contributions over the years as she steps down from her role in the TAC. To Connor Sa Bom who is recovering from hip surgery and continues to be active and productive writing additional guidelines and to the TAC administrator Koina Sa Bom for all of his administrative work keeping the international requirements up to date and streamlined.

The most important thing you can do to make the most of any new year is to get commandingly clear on what you want to accomplish, what you have to let go of that may stop or hinder you and making a clear strategic plan that you can use to achieve your objectives. It’s really very simple. Not always easy, but simple.

Please look at the 2017 dates of events held in your Do Jang, Region and across Australia and be part of sharing and growing the art. Communicate and connect with others on all levels and make 2017 a wonderful MDK year.

Yours in the Moo Duk Kwan

Kriton Glenn
Australia TAC Chairman
